No Hot Water — Forward Zone Cold, Aft Zone Warm (Multi-Zone System)

Root Cause
Partial hot water loss on a vessel with two or more independent water heater units. The aft zone heater is functioning normally. The forward zone heater is not heating — most likely due to a tripped or off circuit breaker on the forward heater circuit, or the forward heater unit has lost power or failed independently. This pattern is common on larger catamarans where forward and aft accommodation zones are served by separate heater units on separate circuits.

Solution
Locate the forward zone water heater unit and its dedicated circuit breaker. On most catamarans the forward heater is installed in a forward locker, under a berth, or in the forward heads area. Check the breaker — if tripped, reset once. If the heater unit has a power indicator, confirm it is lit. Allow 45 to 90 minutes for the forward tank to heat. If the unit cannot be located, consult the vessel general arrangement documentation.

- Confirm aft zone has hot water — isolate fault to forward zone
- Search forward lockers, under forward berths, or forward heads for second heater unit
- Locate dedicated circuit breaker for forward heater on AC panel
- Reset breaker if tripped — once only
- Check heater unit for power indicator light
- Allow 45 to 90 minutes for forward tank to reach temperature
- If unit cannot be located, consult vessel general arrangement or system documentation
- If breaker trips again, isolate and arrange inspection of forward heater element
